Final Project for the Advertising in Design class at Oakland Community College, Winter 2024. I had just seen Dune Part 2 and decided to create a promotional soda for the movie.

I designed this metallic, grayish look to go along with Denis Villeneuve futuristic vision for the films. It conveys a certain amount of seriousness that is of a piece with the films, while also having type that brings much needed fun to the product.

I used the main characters as the basis for the graphics, associating them with specific flavors and colors to bring cohesion to the design. Each character has their own "catchphrase" which is seen as the flavor for the product. As you'll see in the slides down below, I wanted to create a sense of immersion. You're not drinking a blueberry soda, you are "becoming the Lisan al Gaib".

This beverage concept was crafted with fans of Dune in mind, and for those not familiar with the movies, my plan was to instigate some sort of curiosity to the meaning of the phrases.

Below you'll find the OLAs I made. My goal was to create this feeling of adventure with the characters staring at something, and  also emphasizing how IMAX is part of the marketing campaign. The general consensus is that the best way to watch Dune is in IMAX. My idea is to tell consumers there's an even better way: by drinking SoDune while you watch it.
